Level 5 Terror Hotel
TERROR HOTEL
The Terror Hotel includes the Main Hall and Boiler Room. The hall retains the furnishings of an old luxury hotel, while machinery and pipes leave little room to pass through the boiler room.
Main Hall
Main HallThe Main Hall is a nearly endless expanse of ornate corridors and halls, preserving the decor of an early twentieth-century luxury hotel. Mahogany-red and gold wallpaper covers the walls, while black walnut, white marble, and red-and-gold carpets alternate from corridor to corridor. Bookcases, cabinets, antique sofas, and candelabras are maintained far too perfectly, as though dust and stains cannot remain for long. Some candelabras are actually electric lights disguised as antiques, emitting a continuous hum into the silence.

Boiler RoomThe Boiler Room is hidden beneath the hotel's refined surface. Although the space is broad, antique machinery, boilers, furnaces, and tangled industrial piping compress it into claustrophobic passages. Metal surfaces have dried and whitened under prolonged heat, relief valves continuously vent steam, and joints in the pipes seep a liquid recorded as almond water. Beyond one bank of machinery there is rarely a more open chamber—usually only another expanse of roaring, vibration, and searing heat.
