Behind the Ornate Walls
Vintage machinery and intertwined pipework turn a broad service floor into tight routes. Heat has dried and bleached the metal, valves discharge steam, and liquid recorded as Almond Water leaks through stressed fittings.
Voices Beneath the Machinery
Engines, dripping lines, and furnace combustion cover almost every other sound. They do not completely hide the low voices reported inside smoking furnaces—voices that sometimes continue during the brief pauses between machine cycles.
Reading the Heat Source
Boilers, steam, and pipes produce dehydration and slowed response before the danger feels obvious. Whispers become clear only when machinery falls quiet; do not stop near a vent, furnace mouth, or narrow catwalk to verify them.
