Transformers, switchgear, cooling lines, and heavy cables exceed the needs of the building itself. Circuit diagrams continue into the city and to locations absent from every plan.
A Grid Beyond the Building
Industrial floors deep inside TRI are packed with high-voltage equipment, cooling systems, and access platforms. The displayed loads extend beyond the complex into the urban grid and unnamed destinations. Ozone, hot metal, and warning lights define the space.
Power as a Controlled Resource
The system balances abnormal fluctuations across the city as well as supplying the research facility. Armed personnel control tiered access to distribution platforms and consoles; the entire room vibrates when entity-lab equipment starts.
Where the Load Goes
The number of circuits exceeds the building's needs and fluctuates with the city outside. Local darkness does not make equipment safe; the load may simply have moved to a line absent from the plan.
