Financial District

The Financial District is one of the most densely built parts of the Endless City. Banks, trading halls, and glass office towers surround broad plazas. Their façades reflect sourceless daylight, while some windows refuse to reveal anything inside, like black mirrors. Accessible buildings retain desks, filing cabinets, meeting rooms, and market displays that update continuously. Doors and windows of inaccessible buildings remain locked, and knocking on their walls returns the echo of a mass of solid rock. Surface passages from the metro open at the edge of the plaza, commercial walkways toward the Retail Stores continue through the bases of office towers, and the Institute building rises deeper in the skyline. The Institute's private army has erected roadblocks and checkpoints between the towers and plazas, bringing this district that joins transport, commerce, and research under its control. Even without workers, cash machines, electronic clocks, and elevators keep running, as if the entire financial system were waiting under armed watch for employees who will never return.
