Yellow Rooms

a_l0_yellow

Yellowed wallpaper, damp carpet, and fluorescent lights that never stop humming form an endless service maze. Nearly identical rooms join together in ways that cannot be trusted.

A Threshold Without Landmarks

For most missing people, the Yellow Rooms are the first memory of the Backrooms: stained wallpaper, carpet soaked in unidentified fluid, and fluorescent buzzing without a visible source. The space resembles the stripped rear corridors of an obsolete office building, repeated beyond any useful scale. Rooms look alike, yet no room can be found twice with confidence; thirst, fatigue, and prolonged isolation often become dangerous before any figure in the distance can be verified.

Peripheral Shift

The floor occasionally collapses into pits whose depth cannot be judged. Their edges disappear into damp carpet and poor light, while nearby corridors may alter as soon as they leave direct observation. Water-damaged notes and an unpowered outpost console suggest earlier attempts to map these anomalies, but the surviving measurements contradict one another.

Survey Conclusion

The fluorescent hum is more than ambience: it confirms the route is still within ordinary Yellow Rooms and is the first reference lost near a blackout zone. Route marks support memory but cannot force the space to preserve them.
